0 [WATCH]: Caitlin's Correspondent Interview with Student Body Television

Caitlin O’Connor is a model, actress and a UCLA student with a major in English. She has enjoyed her college experience at UCLA very much, where she also been in a sorority. She’s been getting money for college by taking out student loans. She tries paying back college loans as fast as possible by modeling and acting, as her student debt interest alone is $600 each month. When asked if she feels that a lot of the majors offered in college will be useful for the job search college grad will face, she tells us that UCLA gives students the opportunity to make their own majors in addition to the ones they already offer. With the upcoming changes in the economy and job market, she thinks that in addition to the traditional majors available at colleges and universities, social media should also be offered because it is how everybody promotes themselves online these days. [WATCH]: Cost of being a Student (29.03.2012) Day 241

0 [WATCH]: Cost of being a Student (29.03.2012) Day 241

That blog post that I wrote about my computing coursework – itsthemusicstudent.wordpress.com Mildly stressful day compared to how I wanted it to be! Firstly the printer started error-ing half way through whenever I tried to print out my coursework,k which really wasn’t fun. It took so long that I had to abandon the coursework completely when it still had about 200 pages to go, which is always scary, because I’d left it all undefended :/ So I didn’t sleep, but anyway, Also things to worry about – money! Ayyy, specifically student finance money. The loan that I will be receiving, while it does cover the tuition fees, won’t cover all of my living costs (no way near in fact), and even waging in my work money (assuming I can move stores and keep that money coming in) literally only just covers everything, and even then I need extra money from Dad to help fund some of the luxuries like train travel and what have you… Scary Scary times, I should of looked more into this, but if I had, it wouldn’t have swayed my decisions… Because at the end of the day, money should never hold you back from anything! That’s what I say, But anyway, Thanks for watching, and I’ll Catch you Later! Main channel: t.co Catch me on twitter: t.co My Blog: t.co Tumblr: t.co Add me on Google+: t.co

[WATCH]: For Profit Colleges Join Military Industrial Complex

4 [WATCH]: For Profit Colleges Join Military Industrial Complex

Last year we discussed how for-profit universities have scammed veterans keen on earning an education after putting their lives on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan. Veterans who attend profit maximizing colleges have relatively high loan default and dropout rates and those that do graduate find their degrees don’t amount to much in this tight labor market. Plus tax payers are often stuck with the bill. Between 2006 and 2010 the amount of military education benefits taken in by just 20 for profit colleges has increased from over $66 million to over $520 million. And 70 cents out of every dollar of revenue at 63 percent of accredited for profit colleges comes from federal aid. Twitter: twitter.com Facebook: www.facebook.com
